Offering creative and client centered parent and family coaching and support for parent-child connections and communication
I am so glad you are here. I have created Wide Range of Normal with the goal of supporting kids and parents (as well as other caregivers) to develop more awareness and understanding of themselves and the children in their lives. I view this as a who before how approach, meaning that we must understand who our child is (aka needs, hopes, personality, learning style, etc) to fully develop the how (aka what to do) to better help them. In doing this work I have come to see that nearly all parents are doing the best they can with what they have and who they are. Parents are not trying to make things worse for their child. Children are not trying to make things worse for their parents. We all want to love and connect.
My approach as a parent coach is based on my experience and work as a mental health therapist. For the last 17 year I have worked primarily with children, teens, and families as a licensed professional counselor and art therapist in a range of therapy setting, with the majority being outpatient therapy for families who come seeking helping in managing and understanding their child’s behaviors and emotional world. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and family Therapy and Art Therapy, and have Doctorate of Art Therapy with a focus on researching parent -child therapy using art.
In my personal life I am a parent to 3 unique and different children each with their own wide range of normal. I am also artist. I enjoy spending time outside, traveling, and trying to embrace and learn from the adventures in life.
“There is no way to be a perfect parent and a million ways to be a good one.”
